The Challenge
When the owners of Core Plumbing reached out to us, they were looking for a new agency that could help improve their current digital marketing strategy. With a goal to expand the business, they needed to broaden their reach by targeting the right audience. The agency they previously worked with utilized an SEO strategy that prioritized a high volume of traffic rather than quality traffic that would result in leads and conversions. This led to money being spent on bringing in meaningless traffic. The previous agency also utilized a Yelp strategy that wasn’t performing as well as it should.
The Solution
After evaluating Core Plumbing’s current digital marketing strategy, we knew we had to focus on two major aspects: SEO and Yelp.
Spec 1: Re-evaluating SEO Strategy
Before iCatch, the Core Plumbing website was receiving over 237k monthly impressions but only 626 clicks. This resulted in a click-through rate of 0.3%, meaning their prior SEO strategy was working to increase traffic, but not traffic that would turn into conversions. The website also had an average search position of 53.3.
In just three months of iCatch running Core Plumbing’s SEO strategy, the results have changed significantly. The strategy shift to focus on plumbing keywords with informational and transactional search intent has decreased traffic, but increased engagement. The website now receives 3.82k impressions and gets 173 clicks which has boosted its click-through rate to 4.5% and raised its overall search position from 53.3 to 11.8. In other words, Core Plumbing now has a more specifically targeted SEO strategy that brings in potential customers with a much higher chance of needing plumbing information and services right away.
Spec 2: Improving Yelp Management
When it came to Core Plumbing’s Yelp page, we found that lead generation could be expanded by optimizing the page and targeting a more precise audience. We began with finding keywords that were specific to the Plumbing industry. By targeting hyper-specific keywords in strategically targeted locations, we were able to slowly build back Core Plumbing’s target audience and online ranking. Once Core Plumbing was top-ranking for these hyper-specific keywords, we broadened the search terms to more generalized terms. Within three months, we were able to decrease the number of low-quality leads and increase the number of high-quality leads. This switch in strategies drastically decreased the cost per lead and ultimately saved Core Plumbing money.
